A technical background in wireless packet data telecommunications is required for this course. Additionally basic knowledge of voice roaming in CDMA networks is recommended.
This course is intended for engineers responsible for implementing, maintaining, and trouble shooting packet data roaming in CDMA networks
The demand for wireless data applications continues to grow. Subscribers are increasingly mobile, and it's more important than ever that they be able to access their applications anywhere. To address this, operators are currently implementing data roaming, which will not only allow for greater customer satisfaction and retention, but also new revenue streams. Successfully implementing CDMA data roaming requires that several technical and business elements be addressed. In addition to providing a basic review of relevant network infrastructure and protocols, this course presents a comprehensive survey of data roaming issues, including business considerations, network architectures, and billing. Also included are topics such as Inter-standard data roaming, fraud and troubleshooting. Finally, the course provides recommendations and "best practices" in implementing data roaming between operators.
After completion of this course, the student will be able to:
· Describe business considerations for packet data roaming
· Describe technical issues and considerations for packet data roaming
· Explain how data roaming billing and settlement work
· Identify data roaming fraud issues and possible solutions
· List recommended steps in data roaming implementation
· Explain known data roaming issues and possible solutions
· Describe troubleshooting procedures for data roaming implementationsMedia: A combination of instructor lecture, interactive discussion, and student text.
