 EV-DO Concepts for Business Professionals

None. CDMA2000 Concepts for Business Professionals is recommended for those wishing to obtain a thorough understanding of some of the key concepts.
Audience:
This course is designed for non-technical telecommunications professionals with little or no cellular experience who desire to learn basic concepts and terminology of 1xEV-DO wireless data networks.
Course Description: 
Mobile data is becoming an increasingly important part of the wireless landscape. 1xEV-DO technology is enabling wireless operators to provide a diverse set of new offerings such as Voice over IP (VoIP), Video Telephony (VT), Internet Access, Email, Push-to-Talk (PTT), and Wireless Network gaming to their customers. These new applications provide both differentiation and new growth opportunities for wireless operators. It is important for many non-technical telecommunications professionals to understand the key concepts and “buzz words” of 1xEV-DO wireless data networks. This course provides basic, easy-to-understand explanations of how 1xEV-DO wireless data networks work. Internetworking with CDMA2000 networks is also outlined. Common terms used in 1xEV-DO technology are defined. Key 1xEV-DO and Internet concepts are also provided.
Objectives:

After completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast the key differences between 1xEV-DO Release 0 and Revision A
  • Explain why wireless data is important
  • List methods used in 1xEV-DO to improve throughput
  • List 3 key performance metrics for wireless data systems
  • Explain the relationship between VoIP and 1xEV-DO
  • Explain the difference between circuit switched and packet switched networks
  • Describe the function of a router
  • Explain the function of TCP, IP, and UDP protocols
  • Compare and contrast Simple IP with Mobile IP
