| CDMA2000 1X Network Characterization Seminar
|
Length:
8 hours (1 day)
|
Prerequisites:
CDMA Principles for Engineers or the equivalent
|
Course Description:
The CDMA2000 Network Characterization Seminar focuses on determining the Quality of Service experienced by voice users. The processes and best practices described in the seminar are typically used during initial network acceptance testing, periodic network performance testing, and verification of a network after modifications. These processes also help the Operator determine if the performance of the network is providing the desired level of performance to ensure customer satisfaction. They also help the Operator identify non-compliance with target QoS values. Other available classes offered by CDMAU describe the next steps after characterization including the optimization processes.
The course includes examples of extracted Key Performance Indicators from real networks in the form of mapping plots and spreadsheet files. Students will be provided with a CD-ROM with these files and software utilities to view the mapping plots.

Objectives:
After taking the course the student will be able to:
- Define the meaning of network characterization and provide a overview
- Explain network planning as it relates to network characterization
- Discuss network operation as a precondition to a network characterization
- Identify key CDMA2000 Parameters and recommended values
- Explain the process of collecting performance data and the necessary tools enabling this activity
- Describe the post-processing stage and required tools
- Discuss the final and very important stage "The Analysis Stage" where the Key Performance Indicators have been extracted from the logged performance data and make observations about the level of performance of the network under test.
