Audience:
This course is designed for Telecommunications Professionals involved in the deployment and/or operation of commercial 1xEV-DO networks that require an understanding of the enhancements offered by 1xEV-DO Revision A from a standards perspective.

Course Description:

This course provides a complete view of 1xEV-DO revision A enhancements and how these enhancements support delay sensitive applications such as VoIP and/or Video telephony. The course begins with a discussion of the affected 3GPP2 and TIA standards. It then addresses the specific modifications and additions to each layer of the protocol stack when compared to Rev 0. In addition, it provides the students an understanding of Quality of Service from the access terminal to the PDSN, reinforcing how the changes and additions to Rev A protocol stack support Q0S.

Objectives:

After completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Describe the driving forces behind the development of Rev A
Explain how the following 1xEV-DO Rev A enhancements support real-time applications such as VoIP and video telephony:
    a. Higher peak data rates
    b. Modifications to the Forward and Reverse Link packet sizes
    c. The addition of new applications and protocols to the protocol stack
    d. QoS support
