Prerequisites:

A technical background in wireless communications is required for this course. Additionally completion of the following courses (or equivalent working knowledge) is preferred:

- CDMA Engineering Basics

- UMTS Overview

Audience:

This course is intended for carrier engineers, carrier network planners, and carrier field technicians or others involved with network design and equipment deployment and/or operation.

Course Description:
Distributed antenna systems are used in CDMA networks for improving indoor network coverage & performance. This course presents the practical aspects of deploying a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) for indoor coverage. The class discusses passive and active systems including noise, inter-modulation, and sensitivity requirements, and also discusses the practical aspects of antennas, coax, fiber, and amplification. It covers basic systems engineering relating to proper performance for CDMA/WCDMA systems. The class also presents hands-on design examples that help students apply concepts learned in the course.
