 CDMA2000 End-to-End Location Based Services
Length:
16 hours (2 days)
Prerequisites:

A basic understanding of the CDMA cellular system (IS-95 & CDMA2000), IS-41, and CDMA data transmission mechanisms is required. Also, a basic understanding of the concepts of how to build a complete system through defined sub-systems and interfaces is helpful.
Audience:

This course is intended for wireless technical professionals who are preparing for a Location Based Services (LBS) deployment or service expansion or who want a better understanding of technical issues associated with LBS.
Course Description: 

This course discusses the concepts and procedures necessary to effectively design and launch an End-to-End Location Based Services (LBS) System on CDMA2000 wireless network. The course begins with an introduction of the global LBS marketplace and the basics of GPS positioning technology. It then addresses the advantage of adopting Assisted GPS and the standards for supporting both Control Plane and User Plane gpsOne solutions. Additionally, it introduces the BREW application programming interface and the challenges on LBS field engineering.

    • Describe how Global Navigation Satellite System (e.g. GPS) and Assisted-GPS work at a basic level
    • Recall the advantages offered by Qualcomms gpsOne Assisted-GPS and terrestrial location determination technologies
    • Recall how an End-to-End Location Based Services (LBS) system is constructed
    • Describe the core location determination technologies, the subsystems that make up an LBS system, and the interfaces between the subsystems
